So, why hoard Gold? Under Russia\u2019s leadership, the BRICS, which includes many of the largest oil-producing countries, want to establish a global payment system to compete with the capricious Advanced Economies\u2019 Swift system. Gold\u2019s rise also reflects doubt that the Fed will avoid a liquidity crisis unless it curtails selling Treasuries.
