Earlier this month Jenny emailed me with the following query:
On 7 March I received an unsolicited call from a Durban-based life insurance company – before she could proceed with her sales pitch, I asked her where she got my name and number from. She replied that it was obtained from the Deeds Office, and even proceeded to tell me when I had last purchased a property. How is this compliant with Protection of Personal Information Act?
