Kingdom Tide --- Amos 5:21-24 What happens to faith that only worships itself? In Northern Israel, what looked like economic success and thriving Judaism hid something much darker. The rich were growing richer and the poor were poorer. Even worse, religious leaders had become the influential elite and their prosperity at the expense of the lower classes was seen as God's blessing. The king was at the heart of a moral decay in the nation, and his most successful prophets were sycophants who only reported God's support of the king to maintain their personal comfort and position. We're returning to the Old Testament this Fall for our new series, but it sure doesn't sound like we went BACK in time, does it? Enter Amos. A fig farmer who God uses to remind God's people that sacrifice and songs to the alter of such hypocrisy repel God. God demands constant righteousness and justice from God's people. We are called to exercise a right relationship with our Lord and always between our fellows. How are you contributing to this Kingdom Tide?
