High Point (Palm Sunday 2018)

Matthew 21:1-11 Today is Palm Sunday and we celebrate the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Crowds of people line the streets and cheer as he enters the city on a donkey. Every year we gather to celebrate this high point of Christ’s ministry. But as we look towards Easter, we remember that the time between his triumph and execution by the state was a mere 5 days. How did it come to this? How did cries of “Hosannah!” change to “Crucify!” in such a short time? Today, we remind ourselves of what the Rebel Jesus did and how important his criticisms of the religious authorities and figures were then and remain so today.
