Matthew 2:13-23 On one of the more defining weeks for our country in decades, we welcome Pastor Melinda Priest from Awaken City Church in Boston. One thing we need to note about our Capitol being breached by a mob on Epiphany is this: the Magi had the revelation that the child in Bethlehem was the King they were seeking. They were also told that Herod was not. We the American church need to not only repudiate the kind of violent devotion to national figures on display this week, but also repent of the part we've played in legitimizing it for so long. Whether we've heard God's voice in a dream or not, reflect on the kinds of voices you consider as an authority. Are they voices of love, mercy, and compassion?
