b'In a briefing Monday, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters President Trump was \\u201cappalled\\u201d at calls to defund police departments. Trump himself later noted that he thinks \\u201c99%\\u201d of police officers are \\u201cgreat, great people.\\u201d Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, meanwhile, noted through a spokesperson that the former Vice President \\u201cdoes not believe that police should be defunded.\\u201d But McEnany went on to say the president is looking at \\u201ca number of proposals\\u201d as it relates to ideas of policing reforms, and Biden\\u2019s statement did mention that he saw \\u201cthe urgent need for reform\\u201d in the nation\\u2019s policing. All this comes against the backdrop of nationwide protests over police violence, and a national election. How will the \\u201cdefund the police\\u201d question play in the race for 2020?
