It was great talking to my buddy Dan McCoy about his history in the tech world and the rise of Pixar as the animation powerhouse they are and what it was like before they were a household name right up until today\u2019s pandemic \u201cwork-from-home\u201d orders and how nothing stops them from creating. Daniel McCoy began his career with Pixar Animation Studios in March 1989 working with the RenderMan\xae software group for eight years. McCoy has been part of the shading team on a number of Pixar\u2019s award-winning feature and short films including \u201cGeri\u2019s Game,\u201d \u201cA Bug\u2019s Life,\u201d \u201cToy Story 2,\u201d \u201cMonsters, Inc.,\u201d \u201cFinding Nemo,\u201d \u201cUp\u201d \u201cRatatouille\u201d and \u201cToy Story 3\u201d. McCoy was the supervising technical director for the Academy Award \xae -nominated short film \u201cLa Luna\u201d which was released theatrically in 2012 in front of the Disney\u2022Pixar feature \u201cBrave.\u201d He is currently developing new shading tools with Pixar's Software Tools group.

Prior to coming to Pixar, McCoy worked with the NASA/Ames Research Center and at Sun

\xa0Microsystems as a part of their computer graphics group. A native of San Jose, California, McCoy attended San Jose State University.
