As a unique Torah scholar who wrote on the entire gamut of Torah law, he left an impact as one of the greatest poskim in modern times.\\nBorn into a rabbinical family in Kosava, Belarus, he resided in several towns across Lithuania and Belarus in the ensuing years before settling in Vilna.\\xa0In his later years he resided in the Land of Israel, and it was there that he gradually gained renown.
