SLOW MOVING CLOUDS is a Dublin-based post-folk band. Their music is an organic mix of the Irish and Nordic folk traditions with baroque strings and post-rock influences.On Starfall, band's second album, their folk roots merged with indie and experimental influences, expanding the sonic palette and power of their earlier work. The album was released digitally through the PEOPLE music platform, led by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and the Dessner brothers (The National).In 2019 Slow Moving Clouds toured in the UK with Jenny Lewis and opened for Feist at the Sounds From a Safe Harbour in Cork.Other recent highlights include performing at The Brighton Festival 2019, PEOPLE residency/festival at Funkhaus, Berlin 2018; Sounds From a Safe Harbour, Cork (with The National) 2017; the 3Arena, Dublin (with Ludovico Einaudi); Sydney Opera House (with Teac Damsa\\u2019s Swan Loch / Loch na hEala); and at legendary Irish fiddle player Martin Hayes\\u2019 \\u2018Masters of Tradition\\u2019 festival.In 2016 Slow Moving Clouds (with band's original fiddle player Danny Diamond) created the score for Teac Damsa\\u2019s Swan Lake / Loch na hEala, a contemporary adaptation of the classical ballet, set in the Irish midlands. The work premiered to critical and popular acclaim at the 2016 Dublin Theatre Festival, and was awarded Best Production at the 2017 Irish Theatre Awards. The Guardian listed the show the second best dance show of 21st century! This work built on their critically acclaimed 2015 debut album, Os, which drew comparisons to Icelandic post-rock legends Sigur Ros and Irish traditional supergroup The Gloaming.
