The Irish Film Festival Ottawa is back! Join us on November 5-7 for a mini doc & short fest. Irish Troubadour explores \xc1ine Tyrrell's journey as she plays Woodford Festival just north of Brisbane with her new band over New Years 2019/2020. The documentary combines two storylines. The narrative arc is provided by \xc1ine’s journey to Woodford Festival and the accompanying colour and excitement of Australia’s biggest and craziest folk festival. Intercut with this narrative arc is a character based bio-pic of \xc1ine Tyrrell looking at her journey to escape domestic violence. In coming to Australia, \xc1ine was attempting to save a relationship with a violent partner. After much heart-searching \xc1ine has decided to talk publicly about the experience where her Australian dream became a nightmare. When she was at her lowest ebb, \xc1ine bought a 1966 Bedford bus and took her 3 young children on the road. \xc1ine’s goal is to be a working artiste and a mother to her children. She is passionate about passing on her Irish language and culture to her family and equally passionate to respect and absorb the Aboriginal heritage of her adopted land. Untold Secrets voices the experiences of Irish Mother and Baby Home survivors and focuses on the life and upbringing of one survivor, Anne Silke.
