Human Rights - Building and Crossing Bridges 1

The Iowa City Human Rights Commission partnered with several local diversity-building groups and human rights organizations to host an event aimed at combating hate speech and fear mongering while building a stronger Corridor community. The first session featured comments from former Congressman Jim Leach and City of Iowa City Mayor Jim Throgmorton.

The event was sponsored by the Iowa City Human Rights Commission. Co-sponsors include the Muslim Public Affairs Council of Iowa, ACLU-IA, Johnson County Consultation of Religious Communities, United Nations Association of Iowa and Johnson County, Johnson County Board of Supervisors, University of Iowa Center for Human Rights, University of Iowa Chief Diversity Office, Peace Iowa and the Center for Worker Justice of Eastern Iowa.
