Human Rights Awards Breakfast 2015

The 31st Annual Human Rights Awards Breakfast honors community citizens and organizations for their contributions to human rights locally, nationally, and internationally.

Award winners are:

Charlie Eastham: the Isabel Turner Award for work for fair and ethical treatment and/or volunteering time to an organization or business that works for these rights

Stephanie Van Housen: the Rick Graf Award for long-term commitment to a specific cause or for the benefit of a specific group of persons

RaQuishia Harrington: The Linda Severson Award for contributions to human rights by an individual in a service organization

Sally Scott (Johnson County Affordable Homes Coalition): the Bill Reagan Business / Community Award for contributions to human rights by a business or organization

Eli S. Shepherd: the Kenneth Cmiel Award for contributions to the field of human rights by a college student and/or graduate student

Heather Shank: the Lifetime Achievement Award. This award, which has been renamed the 'Heather L. Shank Lifetime Achievement Award,' will be given posthumously. Shank, who died in August of this year, served as the City of Iowa City Human Rights Coordinator from 1994 to 2005 and was widely known for her work on behalf of human rights.
