Community Foundation Awards Oct 2015

The Community Foundation of Johnson County (CFJC) celebrated its 15th anniversary and awarded more than $250,000 to 56 area nonprofit organizations at its Grant Award Luncheon, sponsored by McGladrey and ACT. The event was held on October 13 at the Coralville Holiday Inn & Conference Center.

Sarah Maiers, grant committee chair, said the Foundation received 92 grant requests for $803,000 to fund programs. 'We are grateful to our many contributors and volunteers for their financial support and gifts of time that champion these very deserving organizations. The Johnson County community is growing stronger with their assistance. Together we are giving for good.'

The Community Foundation of Johnson County is a catalyst to grow endowment through philanthropy. Since its founding in 2000, the Community Foundation has distributed $9.1 million. To date, CFJC has raised more than $20 million in endowed assets and nearly $6 million in bequests.

The Foundation serves more than 170 nonprofit organizations at a cost of less than 2 percent.
