Caregivers - Gentle Yoga

The physical and emotional stresses of caregiving can accumulate over time. Gentle yoga is a great way to 'address your stress,' and has been shown to improve physical pain, lung capacity, balance (physical and emotional!), even cognitive function and memory. It's easy to learn, can be done at home and does not take a lot of time (research is based on 12 minutes a day).

Jennifer New, a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher at Heartland Yoga studio in Iowa City, discusses the health benefits of a regular, 'do-able' yoga practice and guides you through a simple series of breath and body exercises to refresh body, mind and soul. She has a particular interest in yoga as part of the path for healthy aging.
