Carla Vergot taught special education in Virginia for years before taking a sabbatical to write her first book\u2014 Lily Barlow: The Mystery of Jane Dough. The experience was fulfilling, and while she missed touching the lives and minds of elementary school kids, she decided to resign from teaching permanently in order to write the second book in the series \u2014 Lily Barlow: The Mystery in the Mangroves \u2014 which was released in March, 2020.\nCarla recycles, gardens, and rescues bugs. For fun, she loves to travel, camp, fish and drive her Jeep off road. Her favorite food is a homegrown tomato on white bread with Duke\u2019s mayonnaise. Her favorite dessert is a marshmallow on a stick by a campfire with friends.
