Interview with Lauren Mayell

Born in Calgary and raised in Thunder Bay, Lauren Mayell's\xa0entry into Country music quickly occurred while accompanying her grandparents \u2013 highly sought after musicians in their own right \u2013 to their various and many, Eastern Ontario live performances. Encouraged by her \u201cPure Country\u201d belt buckle-wearing grandfather to sing, Lauren did, and she hasn\u2019t stopped. Through the support and love of her family, the eventual loss of her beloved grandparents, and facilitating a promise in obtaining a University degree, Lauren\u2019s commitment to country music remained unwavering.\xa0\n\nNominated for Alberta Country Music Association\u2019s Female Country Artist of the Year (2012, 2014-15), Lauren was also nominated as ACMA\u2019s Fan\u2019s Choice of the Year for 2012 through to 2014 consecutively. Having opened for Wes Mack, Dean Brody and Dr. Hook, Lauren\u2019s drive and discipline has garnered her additional friends and fans while Nashville music industry executives raise their country eyebrows and declare their interest to align with Canada\u2019s fast-rising female country artist.\n\nLauren\u2019s current 6-song EP, \u201cI\u2019ve Changed\u201d (Graham Sharkey/Johnny Gasparic) is well underway with recordings at 2-time CCMA Award Winning Studio, MCC Recording Studio (Calgary). Launching this summer (2016), \u201cI\u2019ve Changed\u201d contains four songs written by Lauren including the title track.
