EP214: Gay and Proud! Coming Out with Justin Mackland

Published: Sept. 14, 2021, 6:56 a.m.

Coming out as gay can be a very difficult process. Thats why today we will be learning how hair colourist at the award winning Ishoka in Scotland, Justin Mackland\xa0, went about this very difficult process of telling his family and friends, whilst also dealing with the confusion of recognising his feelings as a young gay man.
\n
\nInspired by the announcement our How To Cut It presents, 'The Hair Show: Unleashed' live event in Londons Kings Cross on Sunday October 17th 2021 will be supporting the LGBTQ+ Foundation, I wanted to get Justin experiences of coming out as gay man. Justin reveals the challenging moments he went through in his early years, along with dealing with the tragic loss of his father at such a young age. It's a frank, open and emotional conversation, but all beautifully deivered from Justin in a light and entertaining way. I loved it and I know you will, too!
\n
\nJustin started his journey in the hair industry 5 years ago at the age of 25 and has never looked back. Bursting on to the social scene of Instagram with a dream of combining his love for hairdressing and social media, he was instantly catapulted into making his dreams become a reality. Hairdressing really shaped who he is as a person today and has allowed him to ignite his true self. Something you will find out in this podcast episode.
\n
\nAfter hearing this episode for yourself, you'll certainly hear that there is a lot more to Justin than just the smiles and sparkles you see regularly on his\xa0Social Media\xa0feed. There is\xa0determined young gay man who has a steely depth, warmth and inner strength away from the camera. Somebody I really admire!
