Practice Peace

Morning Mantra: "Every day brings a choice; to practice stress or to practice peace."

The first step in practicing peace is to figure out what is causing your stress.  Is it a need to be perfect? Is it the inability to forgive someone?  Maybe it's the fear over missed deadlines? Or maybe it's your health or financial situation.

Whatever it is, you can make it a practice to find peace in your day.  The secret is to practice mindfulness. The soul always knows how to heal itself, the challenge is to quiet the mind.

The mind is the one that creates the stress through your thoughts about any given situation. You can learn to observe your thoughts rather than embody them.  To recognize that it's your thoughts about that need for perfection, deadline, or whatever, that is causing your stress.  

A quiet mind doesn't mean there will be no thoughts, it means they will be on the surface and your peaceful self will be within observing.

The goal of inner peace isn't to control your thoughts, but to stop letting them control you.
