Healing Emotional Pain

Morning Mantra: "Pain is a message that something needs healing."
When we experience physical pain we treat it by gong to the doctor, addressing the cause, then working very hard to heal it.
So why don't we treat emotional pain the same way?
Why do we hide it, push it down, and never address the cause? Why are we so reluctant to reveal it so we can heal it?
Pain doesn't just show up for no reason, it's a sign that something in our life needs to change.
Pain has a message that needs to be heard.
There is truth in your pain.
There is growth in your pain.
There is healing to be done.
But only if it's acknowledged.
You cannot outrun your emotional pain.  That just adds another layer of pain from the tactics you use trying to avoid it. It's presence rears it's ugly head whenever it is triggered.
The greatest resistance to healing emotional pain is the thought that whatever has caused it should not have happened.
Once we accept that we cannot control the past, move to the Now, walk through our pain instead of around it, we begin to heal.
