Audio introduction gives background on the series and introduces listeners to Dr. Christian, played by Jean Hersholt for almost 20 years on radio. He was so believable as a physician that listeners constantly wrote to him for medical advice. He of course told them to take two aspirin and a glass of water and sent them a bill for $35, which was a lot of money back in the 1930's. Of course he did not give any medical advice, but listeners probably would have taken it and followed his instructions if he had.
