\u201cAssessing the Effects of Lake-Dredged Sediments on Soil Health: Agricultural and Environmental Implications on Northwestern Ohio\u201d with Ang\xe9lica V\xe1zquez-Ortega and Russell Brigham
Shipping accounts for a large portion of the Ohio economy. Channels therefore need regular dredging to keep shipping channels clear. In the past, such sediments were often released back into Lake Erie. However, as this can cause environmental problems, the Ohio legislature banned the practice of open dumping in Lake Erie in 2020, creating quite the sticky situation for dredging teams. Enter Dr. Ang\xe9lica V\xe1zquez-Ortega and Russell Brigham, two researchers working to find new uses for these sediments. In this episode, we discuss their work testing the efficacy of lake-dredged sediments as farm amendments.
