Meanwhile, three survivors from the advance colony, hiding in a cave near the colony compound, send Lieutenant Morris in search of the Friendship Delegation.
Since Mateo has destroyed the organic sensor Ulysses relies on to track organic life forms, Ulysses must now use sonic mapping, hearing, and eyesight to find the advance colonists. He finds the colony compound abandoned, but closes in on the survivors in the nearby cave.
