A World War II veteran was once quoted saying, \u201cMany people view us as heroes for doing what we did!\xa0 I don\u2019t view it that way. We were soldiers. We were just carrying out orders.\u201d We non-military types struggle with statements like that.\xa0 Most of us are very cautious of authority structures, we try to avoid them like the plague. We don\u2019t take orders very well, we don\u2019t know much about the discipline of followership.

Ask anyone who's been in the military and they\u2019ll tell you that the backbone of the military is respect for authority, the carrying out of orders & a reverence for the discipline of followership.
