Raised in Ducor, a small agricultural town in central, CA, the youngest of three, Jess was taught at an early age to be resilient and independent. Gifts in her family came in the form of musical instruments and Jess found herself carrying on the practice from her grandmother, familiarizing herself with the piano, guitar and ukulele. In elementary school, she learned how to read and write music by playing the flute. Her shyness pushed her to form a special connection with music, where she could imagine what it would be like to truly express herself one day. She embarked on a journey that would result in her becoming a multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter. Breaking free of societal and familial expectations, Jess overcame her lifelong shyness and now creates sonic landscapes that burst with vulnerability and liberation. Inspired by bands such as Metric and Cults, her songs sway from romantic and floating arrangements to moody and defiant ballads, merging her shoe-gaze sensibilities with indie rock and indie pop.
