Ali Jafri is a multi-instrumentalist, visual media artist and self-taught musician, composer and writer. Drawing inspiration from a mix of Sufi, post punk, Middle Eastern and South Asian sources, he plays guitar, bass, sitar, cumbus saz, tabla, bendir/daf frame drum, composes digital sound and sings.\xa0

Previously the front man and guitarist of the band Ariel, he has collaborated with many other talented musicians and was involved in several other projects involving independent films and soundtracks. He recently performed with NPR Tiny Desk Winner Gaelynn Lea and toured parts of North America as part of David J (Bauhaus and Love and Rockets). In November 2019 he released his first solo EP entitled Bloodlines and performed with industrial supergroup Pigface in Toronto and Chicago as part of their North American Tour. His latest composition can be heard in Digital Dervish and his latest project, Saintfield is a collaboration with creative and life partner Ciara Adams.\xa0 They will be releasing their debut EP later in 2020 or 2021, which will consist of a collection of songs and music with beautifully juxtaposed elements of the feminine and masculine, light and dark, soft and harsh, loud and quiet, old and new wrapped in Celtic, contemporary, South Asian and Middle Eastern flavors, a true reflection of the couple behind the music, rhythms and lyrics.\xa0
