Every year, approximately 70% of all reproductive-aged females in the United States are at risk for unplanned pregnancy. All of these women are candidates for contraceptive counseling and services and the availability of a broad range of contraceptive options is integral to the health and wellbeing of these women.
New methods are emerging that are not long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs). Detailed knowledge of these contraceptive methods and their appropriateness for each patient is needed by all medical professionals who provide contraceptive services to women of reproductive age.
