Thanks to an Amazon Prime Exclusive offer, Cinematic Brotastic was able to see Aquaman one week before it comes out. The latest installment in the troubled DC Cinematic Universe, Aquaman comes at a crucial time to see if DC can rise above and be liked by fans and critics alike. Does the Half Human Half Atlantian save the DCEU like he saves the world? Listen in to this latest episode of Cinematic Brotastic!\n\nAquaman stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Temuera Morrison. It is directed by James Wan who is known for Saw, The Conjuring, And Fast and Furious 7.\n\nPhilip and Andrew give a brief rundown of the DC Cinematic Universe leading up to Aquaman. They also talk about the troubled history the productions have had with the exception of Wonder Woman.\n\nThis film is very special FX heavy. There may not be a way to get around the special FX with a movie that takes place predominantly under water with fantastical locations and creatures.\n\nPhilip is a little tired of the effect of de-aging older actors to play younger versions of themselves. and both Andrew and Philip think this film leans too much on clich\xe9s and familiar styles to really stand out completely.\n\nThe film is not entirely bad. Both were entertained and enjoyed seeing the film. Andrew was particularly impressed with the depiction of the non action scenes that took place underwater where characters spoke to each other; the flowing hair and movement as if underwater stood out as opposed to characters walking around a room. He also liked the depiction of Black Manta, though not the main villain of the film, a formidable foe for sure.\n\nHow involved was Zack Snyder? He started the DCEU, but he's not so involved now. He has a credit on this film along with his wife, but Andrew and Philip think he probably didn't do too much. Andrew points out that he gets a lot of the criticism over the troubled productions of the DC movies, but everyone seems to applaud the casting choices. Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, and Ezra Miller have all been praised for their takes on their respective characters, and Zack Snyder was behind each of their casting.\n\nPhilip gives this film 1.5 tickets, he's glad he saw it, and thinks he'll see it again in the future, but he's not rushing back to the box office to see it again immediately. Andrew gives this movie 2 tickets. He feels that there was a lot crammed into the movie, but not in a way that rushed over things to move on to the next scene. Because of that, he feels that he may have missed some things.\n\nLike Share Subscribe\n\nUntil next time, we'll see you at the movies!\nAnd don't forget to check your ticket stubs.
