Another Heartbreak (Another Hotel)

Good evening. You\\u2019re listening to the Whitney Soul Podcast, and I\\u2019m your host, Gail Nobles. Today\\u2019s topic: Another Heartbreak (Another Hotel). First, it was MJ. Then it was Whitney, and this is a podcast intro.

That was just an intro for the show but Whitney Houston had a heartbreak hotel song of her own to sing with Faith Evans and Kelly Price. To hear it, you can listen on Spotify and YouTube. The song was released as the second single from Houston\\u2019s 1998 album, My Love Is Your Love. Whitney also had sung a little bit of Jackson\\u2019s version of Heartbreak Hotel live in concert back in 1999. She was awesome. She could throw down on some Michael Jackson songs. I\\u2019m wondering did Michael say anything to her about it. And he should of made a record with Whitney. But it didn\\u2019t happen. It\\u2019s good to know that they were friends. Two gifted people. However, Whitney Houston never tried to be anyone else in singing.

She said, \\u201c I got my licks from my mom. My mother, Cissy Houston. \\u2026 So when everyone tries to figure out who I sound like, I don\\u2019t sound like anyone apart from my mother.\\u201d

And so, singing her own version of Heartbreak Hotel, the song reached number two on the US Billboard\\u2019s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart on Feb. 2, 1999. Heartbreak Hotel was certified Platinum by RIAA. It was also a hit in many countries worldwide. The song received two nominations at the 2000 Grammy Awards for the Best R&B song and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The video was nominated for Best R&B Video at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards.

We got a Whitney Houston story. We got another version of another heartbreak of another hotel written down in music history.
