MJ song "Beat It" came from his sixth studio album, Thriller in 1982. It was produced by Michael and Quincey Jones. When I first heard the song on the radio, I didn't like it because it had a rock sound. It was my first time hearing MJ sing a rock song. But when I saw the video of the song "Beat It", I began to like the song. The video showed s MJ's vision behind the words of his song. It made me think, "Yea, those street gangs are something else. We don't need the violence. Michael is giving us a positive message."

Beat it peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100; stayed there for 3 weeks. It also charted at number one on the Billboard Hot Black singles chart. With over 7 million copies sold worldwide. It is one of the best selling singles of all time.

The song is also notable for it's music video, which features Jackson bringing two gangsters together through the power of music and dance, and for Eddie Van Halen's guitar solo. The music video helped establish Michael Jackson as an international pop icon. Both the song and video had a large impact on pop culture, and whenever I see violence going on today, I think of Michael Jackson's song.

Coming up is the podcast theme song, "MJ Said Beat It" by Gail Nobles \xa9 2020 on The Cat Bear.
