GN: Evelyn Champagne King is best known for her hit disco single “Shame” which was released in 1977 during the height of disco’s popularity. King had other hits from the early through the mid–1980s including; "I'm in Love" (1981), "Love Come Down" (1982) Hmm! And there was one more I remember. Oh! “ Betcha She Don’t Love You (1982).
I want to talk about “ Love Come Down”. It’s a song written by musician Kashif. It was recorded by American singer Evelyn King for her fifth album Get Loose (1982). It was released in July 1982 by RCA Records as the lead single from Get Loose. In the United States, it reached number one on the Billboard Black Singles and Hot Dance/Disco charts and number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also cracked the top 20 on the charts in several other countries as well.
I remember when the song “Love Come Down” was Hot. Everybody was singing or humming the tune when it first came out.
During the 1982 year singers like Denice Williams, Jennifer Holiday, & Aretha Franklin were on the R&B charts. There were a lot of R&B singers back then. The Dazz Band - Whip; Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing. 1982 was a great year in music and Evelyn King was in that year. Her singing songs, music, and style reached many. She was loved.
