Politics and the Electric Universe Theory
According to Wikipedia: The politicization of science is the manipulation of science for political gain. It occurs when government, business, or advocacy groups use legal or economic pressure to influence the findings of scientific research or the way it is disseminated, reported or interpreted.\xa0
The edge of science has always been plagued by extreme politics and prejudices against anyone who brings about a new theory that challenges the status quo. There are many examples of now excepted ideas that were once ostracized. Of course the famous example of Galileo who was persecuted his entire life for his paradigm changing ideas that challenged the wide held believe that the earth revolved around the sun. Then there is Semmelweis who introduced the notion of washing hands to eliminate the spread of disease. He was able to reduce death rates of new borns in his hospitals from over 10% to less than 1%. Instead of being granted the Nobel prize for one of the most important discoveries in medicine resulting in countless lives saved, he was thrown into an insane asylum, beaten down, and ultimately suffered an unfortunate death.\xa0
All scientists have heard these stories and most laugh at how dumb people were\xa0back then to be so thick skulled\xa0to not see the value of their ideas. After all, these ideas now seem so self evident. But we have to remember that at the time, those ideas were paradigm changing and challenged the powers that be.\xa0
Today, like then, we have the same issues occurring in almost every field of science. The current positions are holding strong in many fields and those in positions of power and influence are refusing to even entertain ideas that may conflict with their own. Especially if the new idea may knock them out of the limelight, negatively effect their influence, power, or their flow of money.
Of course not all new ideas are good. There are plenty that are silly, wrong, or even dangerous. But, we will not know which ideas\xa0are useful\xa0if ALL ideas are considered flawed ideas produced by quacks. Especially\xa0if we refuse to even recognize that an idea may have\xa0merit, even if partially. Proper, open minded debate will serve the public by eliminating confusion and by advancing science with a renewed focus on those theories that prove out to be the most promising (after open minded debate to flush out the flawed theories).\xa0Not having open minded debate simply keeps science in a dark age of science dictatorship that does not serve the interests of mankind.\xa0
This episode of Business Game Changers I speak with Wallace Thornhill, chief scientist \xa0of the Thunderbolt Project and physicist, to learn more about his controversial ideas of the Electric Universe. We discuss the issues they have encountered with mainstream science over their paradigm changing theories.\xa0
The Electric Universe is a paradigm changing theory that has shown to have merit. It's formulas and theories are proving out in labs all around the world by respected physicists, engineers and scientists. Many believe the\xa0time has come where open debate about these theories should take place so mankind can benefit from the learning that will ultimately transpire through the debate process.\xa0
Words from Wallace Thornhill
\u201cWe live in an electric world. Our cities are visible from space at night, blazing with electric lights. The electricity courses invisibly in the darkness over great distances along thin power lines. We find electricity indispensable. Nature does the same since all matter is electrical.
