b'This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. In 1997 the Salt Lake Chamber, in conjunction with the U.S. Small Business Administration, established the Women’s Business Center of Utah to provide services to female entrepreneurs and small business owners. Here is Ann Marie Wallace who leads the effort.

ANN MARIE WALLACE

Women own and control more than 30 percent of all small businesses in the U.S. Of course, our role at the Women’s Business Center of Utah is to take that to the next level and help more women launch and grow businesses in Utah.

Research published in the Harvard Business Review found that women outscore men in most leadership skills -- including teamwork, innovation and problem-solving. Ladies, my message to you is you can do it, and the Women’s Business Center of Utah can help.

Our services include one-on-one advising, group and self-paced learning which is available either in-person and online. We also promote $1,000 to $15,000 Kiva loans for business owners that come with zero percent interest and no fees.

We recently launched the Utah Women-Owned Business Directory featuring Utah businesses owned and operated by women. It’s searchable by county, industry, and keyword. It’s free and available at UtahWomenOwned.com.

DEREK MILLER

The Women’s Business Center of Utah helps all women business owners in the state, with offices in Cedar City and Salt Lake City, and a dozen virtual centers for online training. If you’re a woman with a business or a business idea, you can visit the Women’s Business Center of Utah’s website to learn more.
