This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. The stress of the pandemic continues to compound on individuals and families in Utah. The pandemic exacerbates these issues increasing mental stress and anxiety at a time when resources are scarce for counseling or mental health services. I want you to know help is available for everyone at the state’s Utah Strong recovery hotline. It’s free for anyone to call and talk with a counselor seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., just call or text 385-386-2289. For those needing a call back-- email your first name and phone number to UtahStrong@utah.gov to hear back from a counselor. If you need an immediate response after hours please contact the Utah statewide Crisis Line at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). Video chat and counseling in Spanish or other languages are also available. I encourage you to take advantage of this resource. This is the first pandemic we have lived through and it’s ok to speak with a trained professional to deal with the emotional stress of the pandemic. These counselors are there to help anyone feeling down with depression, anxiety or stress related to the coronavirus. Remember the number to call or text is 385-386-2289 and is a free resource for you. Now is the time to stay mentally strong as we weather this challenge TOGETHER and this hotline is there to assist those in need. I’m Derek Miller, of the Salt Lake Chamber, and this is “Speaking on Business.” Originally Aired: August 10, 2020.
