This is Derek Miller speaking on business. Ski season is just around the corner, and the resorts are working overtime to prepare for what forecasters are saying will be above average snowfall. Not only are they hiring seasonal workers but implementing plans to keep skiers safe from the coronavirus. Why is this important now? Because when it comes accessing the slopes, season pass holders will receive priority at many resorts where reservations and limits on lift tickets will be put in place to control crowded mountains. For example, at Solitude – in the majestic Big Cottonwood Canyon – those who hold season passes will be able to go directly to the chairlifts without stopping at the ticket office. To protect skiers, face coverings will be required on the mountains along with social distancing in the lift lines, restaurants, and resort facilities. And speaking about those facilities, they are scheduled to be cleaned more frequently this year, including disinfection with electrostatic sprayers. There will be enhanced cleaning protocols in the hotel rooms and condominiums, and additional safety measures will include touchless technology in commercial transactions and more grab-and-go food for hungry skiers.
