Speaking on Business: R&O Construction

This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. R&O Construction is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and continues to emphasize its most important company value—safety. This is perhaps more important now than ever before. Eric Stratford, Director of Business Development for R&O Construction, Slade, is here to tell us what they’re doing. SLADE OPHEIKENS R&O Construction recently received an Award of Honor, the Utah Safety Council’s highest recognition, for working 375,000 man hours without a single recordable incident (the industry average is 1-3 per year). This year, because of COVID-19, we’ve added another dimension to the way we keep our teams safe. Many of our office employees have the choice to work from home as needed, and our field employees continue on jobsites with increased safety, training and daily COVID precautions. Mask wearing and social distancing among workers is mandatory. All of our hard hats have the phrase, “Who is waiting for you at home?” written on them because we see our workers as more than just our employees. They are somebody’s parents, children, and grandparents, loved ones, and if we aren’t doing everything we can to keep them safe and healthy for the people they go home to at the end of the day, we aren’t doing our job. DEREK MILLER R&O Construction’s commitment to safety for its employees and our community is inspiring. More details are available at randoco.com.
