This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. As we work to reactivate Utah's economy, innovative programs are springing up across the state. One example is the city of Herriman which has introduced the 'City Shop Around Program' throughout the month of June. To encourage consumer support of retail and restaurants, the city offers a coupon worth $10 towards a purchase of at least $20 in goods and services at participating establishments around the city. Businesses that participate can redeem the coupons at the end of June from the city government. As we emerge from the coronavirus, the City Shop Around program offers a valuable incentive for residents to support local businesses and invest in the local economy. This in turn benefits the whole. Local businesses are essential to the fabric that weaves a strong community as they employ young and old, friends, family and neighbors. The Salt Lake Chamber encourages innovative programs like these and considers them essential to the success of our cities, businesses and residents. By supporting innovative programs, we can combat the negative consequences of the pandemic and return to a better normal. To learn more about the City Shop Around Program or to model the program for your city, go to Herriman.org. And if you have an innovative idea to help us shape Utah's bright future, email us at info@slchamber.com. We want to hear from you.
