This is Derek Miller Speaking on Business. From workplace to school and family, the coronavirus has changed the way we communicate. The ability to work and learn online has never been more important than it is now, and Comcast is a national leader in keeping all of us in touch. Nelson Duckett, Area Vice President of Comcast is with us today to share what they’re doing to keep us online. NELSON DUCKETT At Comcast we’re working twenty-four seven to keep people connected through the coronavirus, focusing on network operations and engineering our technology to handle spikes and shifts in usage patterns. To close the digital divide, we’re providing low-income Internet Essentials with two free months of access to new customers. In most cases, qualified households can receive service for less than ten dollars a month. On top of this, we’re making Xfinity WiFi HotSpots free for everyone. So our customers don’t need to worry about data usage while they’re working and learning at home, we have paused our data plans, and for 60 days we are providing all Comcast users with unlimited data for no additional charge. We have also eliminated late fees and disconnections. DEREK MILLER Never more important than it is right now, Comcast is essential to helping Utahns receive news and information essential to dealing with the pandemic, as it also provides a foundation for work, learning, and keeping all of us connected. I’m Derek Miller with the Salt Lake Chamber, and this is Speaking on Business. Originally Aired: May 25, 2020.
