We had the pleasure of interviewing Nick Africano over Zoom video!\xa0

Poignant songwriters carry a brilliance of capturing heart-piercing stories in real-time while reflecting deep-seated emotions and a lust for life that uplifts.\xa0Nick\xa0Africano's poetic storytelling bears unflinching intimacy and releases our imaginations to dream of love's abundance of emotions.\xa0Gossip of Flames\xa0is a masterpiece featuring\xa0Africano\xa0in collaboration with Nashville's rising star\xa0Lera Lynn\xa0(as seen on\xa0HBO's\xa0True Detective); who serves as the producer and co-writer (7 of the 10 songs) of\xa0Gossip of Flames.\xa0Gossip of Flames\xa0was recorded by\xa0GRAMMY\xa0Award-winning engineer\xa0Craig Alvin\xa0(Kacey Musgraves) at Nashville's\xa0Sound Emporium.

Gossip of Flames\xa0culls an identity from\xa0Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself," though rooted in the life of a performing artist based in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn. In a bout of inspiration to record\xa0Gossip of Flames,\xa0Africano\xa0returned to his Sicilian father's art studio in the midwestern town of Normal, IL where he grew up playing baseball with lauded artist\xa0Pokey LaFarge. The homecoming resulted in a handful of demos sent off to various Nashville producers and co-writers. While on a writing retreat in Music City,\xa0Africano\xa0met with Lera Lynn and\xa0Todd Lombardo\xa0as he neared completion of the 10 songs on\xa0Gossip of Flames. That chance composing session led to Lynn becoming the producer of\xa0Gossip of Flames.\xa0

Gossip of Flames\xa0spotlights three recording sessions, the first of which includes an array of Nashville musicians. Lera Lynn is in the producer's chair while co-writing and singing on nearly every track.\xa0Craig Alvin\xa0engineered the album with\xa0Africano\xa0performing alongside\xa0Todd Lombardo(guitars, keys, slide),\xa0Robby Handley\xa0(bass),\xa0Chris Lippincott\xa0(piano, keys, pedal steel), and\xa0Jason Cheek\xa0(drums). Four songs on\xa0Gossip of Flames\xa0were engineered by Lombardo and performed/recorded with the trio of him,\xa0Africano, and Lynn.\xa0
