Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Frankie Pine over Zoom video!
Frankie Pine, who works under the banner Whirly Girl Music, is an award-winning music supervisor creating memorable, provocative, and engaging soundtracks for high-profile film and television projects. Her most recent work can be seen in the Golden Globe and Critics \xa0Choice Award-nominated series, \u2018The Flight Attendant\u2019 starring Kaley Cuoco, ABC\u2019s new series \u2018Big Sky\u2019and Amazon Studios\u2019 feature film \u2018Sylvie's Love\u2019starring Tessa Thompson.
Her diverse work spans multiple genres, from \xa0popular \xa0television \xa0dramas \xa0like \u2018Nashville\u2019 (ABC/CMT), Marvel\u2019s \u2018In Humans\u2019 (ABC), \u2018The Newsroom\u2019 (HBO), and \u2018The \xa0Ranch\u2019 (Netflix), to comedy features like \u2018Santa \xa0Claus \xa02\u2019 and \u2018The Tooth Fairy,\u2019 to \xa0indie \xa0box office hits like \u2018Magic Mike.\u2019 In recent years, she has been in demand for streaming projects like \u2018The \xa0Stranger\u2019 (Netflix), \u2018Daisy Jones and the Six\u2019 (Amazon), and \u2018The Looming Tower\u2019 (Hulu).
Pine has received a \xa0total of \xa010 Guild of Music \xa0Supervisors Awards nominations, winning Best Music Supervisor in 2013 for her work on \u2018Magic Mike,\u2019 and in 2014 and 2015 for \u2018Nashville.\u2019
Along with her television expertise, she has extensive film credits, serving as music consultant on successful films such as Steven Soderbergh\u2019s \u2018Ocean\u2019s 11, 12 and 13,\u2019 and on the soundtrack for the Academy Award-winning movie \u2018Traffic\u2019 for which she received a Grammy nomination.
In addition to her work as a music supervisor, Pine has also served as a Music Consultant for ABC Television, \xa0Interim \xa0Music \xa0Executive at New Line Cinema, and as Music Executive at PolyGram Filmed Entertainment, which included overseeing music for \u2018Dead Man Walking,\u2019 \u2018Notting Hill,\u2019 and \u2018The Big Lebowski.\u2019
Pine is a long-time member of the GMS and previously served on the Board of Directors for many years.
