This week’s podcast comes to us from Detroit’s own Tom Newman. Most well known as Acid Pimp, Tom has been DJing and producing music for almost 20 years. By the late 1990’s Tom was a major headliner throughout the North America, and his consistant releases on Cheshire became highly sought after. \xa0It was around this time that he helped form D-records with Richie Hawtin, Rex Sepulveda, and Len Bartush as a sub label of M-nus.
\nAfter having the opportunity to perform at Tresor Berlin in 2001, Tom became inspired to form Friction Detroit,\xa0which\xa0would surface as Detroit’s first all techno club night. \xa0He with the help from his close friend Chad Parraghi aka “CFX” hosted an incredible roster of Techno’s most well known artists from around the world such as Chris Liebing, Dan Bell, Regis, Function, Steve Stoll, Christian Wunsch, Tim Xavier to name a few.\xa0 Tom recently returned with a weekly podcast at\xa0frictiondetroit.com, and a full schedule of new releases on Friction Detroit\xa0Records.
