Prosper Bonhomme talks Romani magic and history

Published: Jan. 31, 2019, 4:19 p.m.

I had the opportunity to speak with Prosper Bonhomme, a writer, traveler, and Romani egoist anarchist. They write professionally for Gods & Radicals and personally on their blog. They also ethically collect animal carcasses to prepare and sell the skeletal remains for magical and ritual use.

I'm excited for this talk because prior to our discussion I didn't have as deep of an understanding of Roma history or culture as I should considering many of us use the techniques and traditional Romani magical systems. Much of my view of Romani culture was colored by romanticized versions like Victor Hugo's Esmeralda in Hunchback of Notre Dame, Prosper Mérimée's Carmen, Alexander Pushkin's poems, plus many films and TV shows later on depicting Roma caravans.

In the Patreon extended episode we talk about dead animal boners, destroying nationalism and borders, and antiziganism, which Bon goes into great detail in their recent article.

p.s. my homemade entheogen tea was a blend of sassafras, star anise and hibiscus. the safrole in sassafras is a rough and raw form compound building block of MDMA. The star anise lends itself to psychic ability and the hibiscus is to cut the bold taste of the other two.
