\nThe Bird Feeder Excerpt:
\nThe chilly breath of winter painted Ahway Island with a frosty charm.\xa0 The snow sparkled in the morning sunlight. Liam sat by the window finishing his glass of juice after a delicious breakfast.\xa0 He looked out at the snow and saw the remnants of the fort he\u2019d build with his parents the other day.\xa0 The sun was doing its best to melt it away.\xa0 Liam thought maybe he\u2019d go outside to play today and fix up the fort.\xa0 Maybe his mom would even join him for a snowball fight later.
\n
\nAs Liam looked out, he noticed a patch of blue against the white of the snow.\xa0 There was a little blue jay hopping around in the yard, poking at the ground.\xa0 Liam watched it explore for a while, wondering what the bird was doing.\xa0 Was it looking for something?
