30 years ago, a police beating of a Black motorist named Rodney King, was caught on videotape causing global outrage. The world—and the Los Angeles community—was further outraged when all four policemen were acquitted of all charges. The riots that followed the verdict remain the most destructive in history. But what progress have we made since? And how did Rodney King himself deal with the trauma of police brutality and an inequitable justice system? New York Times columnist and West Coast native Kurt Streeter, who interviewed King extensively, joins to discuss.
