Hey guys! It is Aiko with Schwagirl. I am an American English pronunciation coach and business coach based in Hawai'i.
Welcome to my show "Schwagirl". This show is for Japanese people who speak English as a second language and are working in an English environment. I am focusing on mindsets and entrepreneurship because they are important when it come to working in a new environment and learning new things.
I speak English as a second language. I came to the US when I was 23. I had a hard time in the US because of my thick Japanese accent. If you are going through a hard time, don't give up your dreams and goals. And I hope this show will encourage and empower you! -Who is Aiko?
In this episode, I invited Rochelle Kopp and she shared two Japanese concepts that do not really exist in the American culture.
Rochelle is Founder and Managing Principal of Japan Intercultural Consulting, an international training and consulting firm focused on Japanese business. She helps Japanese and people from other countries understand each others' cultures and work together effectively. How Japanese can improve their communication in English is a theme that she frequently consults on and also writes about in books including the best-selling Manga de Wakaru Gaikokujin to no Hatarakikata, and Eigo no Hinkaku.
Enjoy the episode!

In this episode, I answered questions that I received and talked about mindsets you want to have in order to start creating online courses.
Questions: my whole purpose is to create a passive income and to touch more people’s life and make a difference. When you decided to create an online course, were you worried that you cannot “touch “ each student ? Is this my limiting mindset ? How can I create a course knowing that students will get the same result as if I’m coaching them?
Enjoy the episode!

In this episode, I am talking about "Employee mindset." Do you have an employee mindset or entrepreneur mindset? Well, let's find out.
Here is my note:
- How do you make more money while you work less?
- We don't learn about business and money at home nor at school.
- If you work longer when you want to make more money, you will hit the ceiling because you only have 24 hours a day.
To work less and make more money:
1: Charge higher
2: Structure
3: Passive income

She has two degrees; one from Sophia University (BA in German Language with Linguistics) and the other from Royal Holloway College, University of London (BS in Physics with Music). After her return to Japan in 1992, Maki worked in Classical Music and many other industries, where she always acted as a translator/interpreter on top of her main role in PR and marketing. In 2004 she became independent and started her own business of English language services; teaching and translating/interpreting. She was also a PR representative for Maestro Seiji Ozawa in the 2000's. In this capacity she dealt with national and international media and travelled extensively with Maestro's projects. Maki is currently based in Tokyo and is known as one of the very few Japanese who can speak and teach British accent, namely RP (Received Pronunciation). She runs her own English language school where she teaches individuals and groups. Her background of music education and singing experience has led her to teach diction to Japan's renowned professional singers, whilst she also enjoys teaching amateur singers and chorus groups.
