Feature Presentation: CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST

Jeronimo’s feature pick was CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. We decided to go all-in with a cannibal extravaganza – at least until the hard drive reached critical limits while we were scrambling to get Manga Matt on his way so he could take part in baaaad things.

JERONIMO, INDECISIVE MUCH?
Come back next episode for a feast of flesh as the Grind Pulp Podcast Crew go too far into the deepest jungles to explore cannibals. Jeronimo’s selection, CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, prompted Andrew to suggest an all out cannibal extravaganza. We’ll not only be checking out CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, but also MOUNTAIN OF THE CANNIBA GOD and CANNIBAL APOCALYPSE.

We have three cool story selections to accompany our feature presentation pick. You can check those out in our companion episode 21.5, next Sunday.

With MECHANICAL VIOLATOR HAKAIDER in mind, we each pull a prime pick of pulpy storytelling from our libraries. MangaMatt serves up some chop-sake sushi action with GET JIRO! by Anthony Bordain and Joel Rose. Jeronimo follows up with a choice New Pulp adventure, IRON MONSTERS OF DEATH by Joel Jenkins, from the anthology ROBOTS UNLEASHED. Closing out, Andrew shows us a distorted dystopia where androids serve ice cream and priests are our only salvation from the zombie threat in MESSIAH 2.0 by Robert T. Jeschonek. All three of these stories are highly recommended by us.

It’s Manga Matt’s movie pick! His film topic de jure, MECHANICAL VIOLATOR HAKAIDER. Can style and over-the-top special effects trump slim servings of substance? Jump in to find out.

Grab some popcorn and Grape Soda the next time you’re out at the store. We recommend popping in one of those movie style poppers. Also, have wet and dry paper towels nearby so you don’t get butter all over your e-reader or remote control. See you next time!

Follow Andrew Crevier on Instagram for up to the minute (day?) pics from the land of the rising sun. He’s staying with old people. They don’t have interwebs. Uploads will be made from a basement at Kamiooka station, Starbucks in Totsuka, Odaiba, and various locals in Tokyo. A Susperia themed bar and another horror themed bar are to be hit up as well as a retro arcade in Odaiba, Hanayashikii urban theme park, Takoyaki museum, and etc.

1. The Car (1977)
2. Ninja Scroll (1993)

Andrew revisits his feelings toward the Better Off Undead podcast. Apparently Johnny B Truant doesn’t care for John Carpenter films. What???
James explores his unbridled love of all the movies he grew up with, a passion that led him to recommend Time Rider and The Car.
Jeronimo waxes poetic on the use of comic relief in horror stories. A redneck monster hunter, dimwitted strippers, beer, and a werewolf weren’t enough to make him giggle? He’s not laughing. He needs a hug.

Welcome to the first Grind Pulp Podcast. If you're a first time listener, we highly reccomend that you don't start with this episode. It took us about 4-5 episodes to get the feel for things. From there, we have gotten even more acclimated to wild world of podcasting. Episode 13 is where we picked up Manga Matt. James Malone's final appearance in our first year was on Episode 11 - Ghoulies Gone Wild.
We'd like you to start at around Episode 5 or 6 and listen as our production becomes better up through our current output. After that, come back to see how it all started.
For those who insist on beginning here, we'll forgive you, but remember that we had no idea what we were doing.
Fast forward a year and you'll find that we are still learning and honing and working to improve Grind Pulp Podcast. Thanks!
