Welcome to another episode of Cryptid Ramblers Podcast, as we hit number twelve in the series. We hit off this episode celebrating our favourite state in the world, yes on 20th June it was West Virginia day. So we couldn't do an episode without showing some love to our home from home.  Once the festivities are done with and as the title suggests, we dive deep into the world of the mystical world of gnomes, goblins, dwarves and the like. For the origins of these mischievous little beings we stay mostly in the British isles, before taking a trip over to mainland Europe and exploring the Germanic and Spanish iterations.  It wouldn't be right if we didn't venture over to the other side of the pond, so join us as we go through some intriguing stories and possible encounters. On this special day, do we end up in good old West Virginia... Do we find compelling evidence to prove their existence or are they nothing more than a fairy tale.

Episode Eleven - The Missing 411

Welcome to Episode Eleven of the Cryptid Ramblers Podcast. In this episode we are back over the pond, in the United States of America. We are diving into the mysterious and inexplainable disappearances of both children and adults from America's national parks. With clusters popping up around the country our attentions are mostly concentrated on the American Mid-West with a trip over to New York.   What does this have to do with Cryptids you may ask? Well, some of the very creatures we have discussed in previous episodes are reported to be linked with these very disappearances. You'll have to listen to find out which ones! In the first half we cover The Missing 411 and the mysterious disappearances of young children dating back as early as the 1950's. Then in the second half we jump into the even weirder disappearances of adults in The Missing 411: The Hunted with these occurring as recently as the 2000's. None of the victims should have vanished without a trace and their cases are certainly compelling. Join us as we dive deep into each one and unearth all the evidence, to try and determine whether these were just unfortunate disappearances or is there something more to it.

Episode Ten - Fairies

In this milestone episode we are are staying mostly in the Bristish Isles and diving deep into another cryptid, or group of cryptids with local origins. For anyone who listened to our last episode you will know that this time we are discussing Fairies.  The Fae or Fae folk as they are otherwise known have been referenced in history for hundreds of years. With origins rooted firmly in British folklore we also take a trip to Germany, Ireland and the Slavic regions of Europe.  From as early as the 12th Century and as recent as the modern age, we look into these mysterious creatures uncovering intriguing stories, known accounts and even real life interactions. Join us on this journey as we determine whether Fairies are as Disney have depicted, or do they have a more sinister and mischievous origin.

Episode Nine - Banshee

We will exploring the harbinger of death herself the Banshee.  With origins in Ireland, the legend of the Banshee has found herself also in Scottish and Welsh folklore. We will venture to each country and explore how each legend has taken on a persona of its own. As early as the 1380's, through to the 1700's and even more recently than that we cover a variety of stories, all of which involve an encounter with this wailing cryptid.  From the Banshee of Ireland, the Caoineag in Scotland and the Gwrach y Rhibyn in Wales we dive into the origins of each and all their variations.  Join us on the journey as we determine whether there is more to this historic creature of death or just another evolved fairy tale.

Episode Eight - Women in Black

Welcome to Episode Eight of the Cryptid Ramblers Podcast. In this episode we will be diving in the creepy and malevolent companions of the ever elusive Men in Black, that's right, we are going to be looking into the Women in Black. We are back briefly in Bridgeport, Connecticut and the encounter involving a relative of Albert K Bender who had his own MiB experience in 1962. Regular listeners will not be shocked to learn that we wind up back in West Virginia hot on the tail of WiB's and their interactions in the 1950's, involving none other than John Keel.  Certainly the most compelling encounter we come across takes us to Moapa Valley, California and a visit experienced by Truman Bethurum. In 1953 he meets with Captain Aura Rhanes, a reported WiB from the planet Clarion.   Are the Women in Black just a companion of the Men in Black, being as elusive and out of touch, or do they have their own sinister plans. Take a listen into these creepy stories as we try to uncover the truth.

Episode Seven - The Black Eyed Children

Welcome to Episode Seven of the Cryptid Ramblers Podcast. Listeners of our podcast will know that in this episode we are diving into the phenomenon that is The Black Eyed Children. This time we venture out of the safe but creepy confines of West Virginia and head to the State of Texas and even closer to home in the County of Staffordshire, UK. These cryptid creatures could originate as far back as the 1950's, however it is the first published encounter from 1996 that we will explorer. As well as a quick dash over to Vermont to dive into the story of a young couple who actually let them in to their home. Listeners from the UK will be pleased to know that the legend has an origin here too and of course we dive deep into that and how it has taken on a more sinister history.  Are the Black Eyed Children paranormal, do they have a more demonic persona, could they be vampires or could they indeed be connected to the elusive MiB.  Join us as we dive deep into this legend and unearth the truth as to what they are and also where they have come from.

Episode Six - The Flatwoods Monster

After a quick trip across state to Virginia, USA we are back exploring a local WV cryptid. Now this creature has become a local legend to the residents of Flatwoods, Braxton County bringing with it a museum, statues and some much needed tourism.  As well as our favourite state in the US we are also back in the 1950's, specifically this time we are going to 1952. Just after the "UFO Summer" or the Washington Blip, there was an encounter with a cryptid that would change the lives of not only the participants involved, but the residents of this small populated town of West Virginia.  Here in this episode we will dive deep into one of the most compelling cryptid encounters to rock the US, the mysterious Flatwoods Monster.  Is this a real encounter with a visitor from another planet or simply an attempt to get a town on the map. Join us as we break down the story, its origins and as always other encounters.

Episode Four - Men in Black

This particular group of cryptids will be familiar to most people as they were inserted into pop culture, thanks to a popular 1997 movie.  Yes, we will be diving deep into the Men in Black.  As mentioned they were popularised by the 1997 movie starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, and various sequels followed. We, however, will be going back to the 1950's and again covering West Virginia. This is where some of the many and most compelling encounters occurred.  We will of course be going into their origins, their representation in the movie, the most famous encounter as well other interactions experienced throughout 1950's West Virginia.  I hope you join us on this exploration of the most well known secret group of individuals, where we try to add credibility and truth to the myth, or do we come to realise it is all a fabrication.
